Guide to Rating Book Condition

We have provided you with a guide for you to use to rate the condition of your books. Please stay in accordance with this guide in order to provide your customers with a satisfactory idea of the condition of the book they intend to purchase.


New

A book marked as new is to be exactly as it comes from the publisher. The book looks as though it is unread with no faults or defects. There are no smudges or markings. The book is in perfect condition.

Like New

A book marked like new is essentially a new book. It may have been read and show small signs of deterioration; however, no page or leave is torn. There is no writing in the book. There may be a few smudges, all of which are small. The binding is not worn.

Good

A book marked as good is the average used book. The book has no pages or leaves missing. There is no writing in the book. The binding may be slightly worn.

Fair

A book marked as fair is a worn book with no missing pages. The pages may be written on in an easily removable medium such as pencil. The binding is in worn condition but is not loose. Pages or leaves may have small tears in them but no page or leave has any portion missing. The book may have missing endpapers.

Poor

A book marked as poor is extremely worn. The actual text of the book is complete and easily legible; however, endpapers may be missing. The book may be stained or smudged. The book may have a loose binding or loose pages. The pages may be written on in any medium as long as the text is easily legible. Pages or leaves may be torn. Every word of the text must still be legible.
